Momenta’s Tech Confidence and Global Ambitions Seen at IAA
The biennial IAA MOBILITY (International Motor Show Germany) has once again kicked off in Munich. This year’s exhibition, themed “IT’S ALL ABOUT MOBILITY”, focuses on three core pillars: mobility, sustainable development, and technological innovation. As Europe’s most influential automotive event, IAA MOBILITY serves as a bellwether for global automotive technology trends. Notably, the participation of nearly 100 Chinese enterprises—covering core sectors such as whole-vehicle manufacturing, three-electric systems (battery, motor, electronic control), and intelligent hardware/software—fully demonstrates that China’s automotive industry is staging a “breakthrough battle” on the global stage of automotive transformation.
As a leading Chinese autonomous driving company, Momenta has emerged as a focal point at IAA MOBILITY 2025, showcasing China’s strong capabilities in AI technology to the world. Beyond its rapid growth in the Chinese market, Momenta has also achieved remarkable results in the EU market; it plans to launch commercial Robotaxi operations in Munich in 2026, marking a crucial step toward large-scale global deployment of its Robotaxi services. From China to Europe and beyond, Momenta is not only the “premium choice for intelligent driving” among global automakers but also the “technological cornerstone” of the global mobility ecosystem. While completing its global puzzle of large-scale autonomous driving deployment, Momenta is also empowering the world with Chinese intelligent driving solutions.
1. Accelerating Global Layout: From Europe to the World
Munich is the core and innovation hub of Germany’s automotive industry, and Germany itself is the birthplace of the global automotive industry. This gives Momenta’s joint Robotaxi project with Uber—set to launch in Munich—greater milestone significance. As Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi stated: “For over a century, Germany has shaped the global automotive industry, and now Munich will help autonomous vehicles shape the future.”
Momenta CEO Cao Xudong expressed his hope that Momenta’s AI-driven Robotaxi technology will transform urban mobility while opening a new chapter in Munich’s profound automotive industry history. Since the formal signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between Momenta and Uber in May this year, the joint Robotaxi vehicles have already begun road testing in Munich. Commercial operations are scheduled to start in 2026, allowing local residents to hail Momenta’s Robotaxi services via the Uber platform and experience safe, reliable autonomous driving.
In their collaboration, Momenta will leverage the mass-production system it has built with major global automakers to provide Uber with an autonomous driving solution that is highly standardized in hardware and software and does not rely on high-precision maps. Uber, in turn, will contribute its world’s largest mobility network and real-world operational scenarios, jointly advancing the commercialization of Robotaxis in global markets.
When Momenta’s autonomous driving-equipped Robotaxis navigate freely through Munich’s streets, and as this century-old automotive hub embraces cutting-edge AI technology, the global mobility industry will witness an autonomous driving era defined by Chinese technology.

Momenta’s technological expansion is also accelerating in the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) sector. Recently, the overseas versions of IM Motors’ L6 (IM5) and LS6 (IM6)—both equipped with Momenta’s Flywheel Large Model for driver assistance—were officially launched in the UK. Prior to IAA MOBILITY 2025, Momenta also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Valeo, a global leader in ADAS. The two parties will establish a comprehensive, long-term partnership in China and global markets to jointly develop advanced mid-to-high-level integrated driver assistance systems, as well as autonomous driving products, systems, and solutions.
Valeo supplies a full range of hardware and software for driver assistance technologies, spanning entry-level systems to L2, L3, and L4 levels; approximately one in three new vehicles worldwide is equipped with its technologies. The collaboration between Momenta and Valeo will not only combine their respective strengths in hardware and software to enhance the performance and user experience of autonomous driving products but also accelerate the global deployment of advanced driver assistance technologies.
2. The “Self-Evolution” of the Flywheel Large Model
Momenta’s accelerated global expansion is underpinned by its core technological advantages. Since its establishment, Momenta has adhered to the “One Flywheel, Two Legs” strategy—driven by data, intelligent driver assistance, and autonomous Robotaxis work in synergy to evolve together, enabling more efficient and rapid large-scale deployment of autonomous driving.

Momenta’s innovative solution, the Flywheel Large Model, centers on “mass-production data + data-driven algorithms + closed-loop automation” to build a self-evolving system that spans L2 to L4 levels, achieving a positive cycle of “data-algorithms-commercialization.” Its latest-generation R6 Flywheel Large Model is not only the world’s most advanced driver assistance algorithm but also China’s first reinforcement learning large model to achieve true mass production based on an end-to-end approach.
Unlike “imitation learning,” reinforcement learning can simulate massive complex driving scenarios in a virtual simulation environment, enabling the system to independently learn and optimize strategies. This allows the autonomous driving system to continuously evolve in extreme and long-tail scenarios. This “AI training AI” mechanism not only significantly reduces the cost of real-world road testing but also enables the system to learn from its own successes and failures, achieving rapid self-improvement and potentially surpassing human driving capabilities.
Momenta’s “mapless end-to-end” solution—which does not rely on high-precision maps—can be quickly deployed in urban roads, highways, parking, and other scenarios worldwide, making Momenta China’s first intelligent driving company to implement a single technical solution globally. The official launch of IM Motors’ L6 (IM5) and LS6 (IM6) overseas versions (equipped with Momenta’s Flywheel Large Model) in the UK marks the first time Chinese intelligent driving technology has entered the European high-end automotive market as a complete system solution, proving that Chinese intelligent driving technology has reached world-class levels.
Through large-scale deployment, Momenta has accumulated 70 million pieces of high-value data extracted from 3 billion kilometers of driving, including a wealth of complex long-tail challenges that intelligent driving systems need to address. This data has become a valuable resource for training AI models, enabling Momenta’s Flywheel Large Model to learn and evolve at a pace equivalent to tens of thousands of years of human driving experience. This not only breaks through the data bottleneck for large-scale Robotaxi deployment but also ensures the safety and generalization capabilities of the autonomous driving system.
3. “Intelligent Driving Is Not a Luxury”
Gerhard Steiger, Chairman of Momenta Europe, emphasized at IAA MOBILITY 2025: “Momenta does not view intelligent driver assistance as a luxury, but as a standard feature for every vehicle.” Safety, he stressed, is by no means an add-on function but a basic configuration—on par with seatbelts and airbags. Guided by this “safety-first” philosophy, Momenta is rapidly advancing the large-scale deployment of mass-produced intelligent driver assistance systems.

According to reports, Momenta took two years to equip its first 100,000 vehicles with intelligent driving systems; the second 100,000 vehicles took only six months; and the third 100,000 took less than three months. Currently, the total number of mass-produced vehicles equipped with Momenta’s intelligent driver assistance systems has exceeded 400,000.
Leveraging its leading AI technology, Momenta has established in-depth cooperation with more than 20 major global automakers—including the German luxury trio “BBA” (BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi)—solidifying its status as a “shared choice of global brands.” This is a testament to Momenta’s strong technical capabilities. It is precisely due to its unwavering focus on safety that Momenta has won recognition from both automakers and users in the highly competitive automotive industry.

As a representative of Chinese AI technology at IAA MOBILITY 2025, Momenta has demonstrated the significant influence of Chinese technology in the global intelligent driving sector. Just as China’s new energy vehicles have reshaped the global automotive industry landscape, Momenta is proving to the world that in the AI-driven mobility revolution, Chinese enterprises are evolving from followers to innovation leaders and industry enablers.
In the race from intelligent driving to fully autonomous driving, the winner will be the one with a faster-spinning data flywheel, closer ecological cooperation, and the ability to reach the finish line of large-scale deployment first. With continued breakthroughs in the European market, expansion of its global cooperation network, and ongoing technological innovation, Momenta will further consolidate its position as the “shared choice of global brands” and drive the popularization of intelligent driving technology worldwide.
